| определение 1 | In order to provide a more efficient means of describing speech, phoneticians have devised a set of symbols , known as the International Phonetic Alphabet(IPA). IPA symbols are by convention closed in square brackets. Founded in 1886, the International Phonetic Association, which is also abbreviated IPA, continues to modify the alphabet in order accommodate newly documented sounds. Ideally, anyone properly trained to in the use of this alphabet should be able to use it to transcribe sounds of any language. |
